Celebrate National Student-Athlete Day with us ALL Month Long

2020 Mr. and Miss Kentucky Basketball Candidates to be Celebrated and Other Award Winners to be Announced in April by the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation.

Monday, April 6, 2020 is National Student-Athlete Day.  The Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation plans to extend this celebration for the entire month of April.  Each day on our website and social media, we will highlight and celebrate our 2020 candidates for Mr. and Miss Kentucky Basketball, who along with many other student-athletes across the nation, have had very limited opportunities to celebrate the end of their high school career.  Please visit www.mrandmisskybasketball.com or follow us on facebooktwitter or instagram to follow along with our celebrations.

During April, the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation will also announce the winners of the following awards on the corresponding dates:
Donna LJ Murphy Award – Wednesday, April 8, 2020
Wah Wah Jones Award – Wednesday, April 15, 2020
William ‘Mr. Wildcat’ Bill Keightley Award – Wednesday, April 22, 2020
Regular Season Leading Stats Awards – Wednesday, April 29, 2020

These award winners  will be presented their awards as usual at the rescheduled 2020 Mr. and Miss Kentucky Basketball Awards Ceremony.  Unfortunately due to the ever changing situation, we do not have a new date set at this time.  Some determining factors include when/if students will be allowed to return to school, prom dates, graduation dates, etc.  We expect to learn more in the upcoming weeks that will allow us to select the best date available.

We thank you for your patience as we all go through this difficult and uncharted time in our state and our country due to this on-going challenge.  It is of great importance to us that we are able to host this event to provide a celebration of the multitude of accomplishments of our student-athletes who have had a very unfortunate ending to their high school careers.

We will continue to monitor the situation and follow any guidelines and precautions recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Kentucky Public Health officials.  The health of our student athletes and their families, as well as our other attendees and our volunteers is our top priority.

Information will be shared with candidates, family members, coaches and school administrators as it becomes available.  Please follow our facebook and/or twitter to receive the fastest updates!
